Benefits and Examples of Integrating Salesforce and Intercom
Benefit 1: Improve Operational Efficiency by Reducing Manual Registration
When manually transcribing specified customer information from Salesforce to Intercom contacts, it becomes a careful task due to handling important information. It becomes difficult for the person in charge to respond quickly to ensure accurate registration. By integrating Salesforce and Intercom, you can add specified customer information to contacts with a single click, leading to improved operational efficiency. For example, even when the number of customers registered in Intercom contacts increases, using this integration can lead to efficient business progress and reduce the burden on the person in charge.
Benefit 2: Improve Data Quality by Preventing Transcription Errors from Manual Registration
Manual data entry carries the risk of human error. Even when copying and pasting from Salesforce to Intercom, there is a possibility of forgetting to copy some parts. By integrating the tools, you can accurately reflect the information managed in Salesforce to Intercom, preventing transcription errors and improving data accuracy. For example, when registering favored customer information in Intercom, if support staff responds based on incorrectly entered information, it can lead to a decline in trust. Preventing such human errors in advance can be effectively addressed by integrating Salesforce and Intercom.
Benefit 3: Strengthen Inter-Departmental Collaboration with Rapid Data Reflection
When operating Salesforce and Intercom in different departments, reflecting information between tools becomes a challenge. If there is a delay in reflecting customer information in Intercom, it can hinder the operations of related departments. By integrating Salesforce and Intercom, customer information reflection can be completed with a single click, facilitating smooth information sharing between departments. For example, even when busy sales department members are requested by the customer support team to reflect customer information, using this integration allows them to respond promptly without postponing the task. This enables the customer support team to respond quickly, strengthening inter-team collaboration.
Now, let's introduce the method of registering specified customers from Salesforce to Intercom contacts using the no-code tool Yoom.
[What is Yoom]
How to Register Specified Customers from Salesforce to Intercom Contacts
This method can be realized by using a Chrome extension to receive customer information registered in Salesforce via API and registering it to contacts using Intercom's provided API. Generally, programming knowledge is required to achieve this, but with the no-code tool Yoom, it can be easily realized without programming knowledge.
We will create it through the following major processes.
Register Salesforce and Intercom as My Apps
Copy the template
Set up the Chrome extension and Salesforce trigger as the starting point of the flow, followed by Intercom settings
Turn on the trigger button and verify the Salesforce and Intercom integration operation
If you are not using Yoom, please register for free from here. If you are already using Yoom, please log in.
Step 1: Connect My App with Salesforce and Intercom
First, register Salesforce and Intercom with My App to connect them to Yoom.
1. Select "My Apps" on the left side of the Yoom management screen and click "+ New Connection".
2. On the following screen, search for Salesforce and Intercom respectively and proceed to the next screen.
For Salesforce:
・Once logged in, registration with My App is complete. ※ Salesforce is an app available only with the Team Plan and Success Plan. For Free Plan and Mini Plan, operations and data connections set with Flowbot will result in errors, so please be careful. Paid plans such as Team Plan and Success Plan offer a 2-week free trial. During the free trial, you can use apps that are subject to restrictions. ※ Please be careful not to use accounts linked with other services.
For Intercom:
・Enter the account name and access token, and click "Add" to complete the registration with My App. ※ The method to obtain the access token is explained on this help page.
3. Copy the template for connecting Salesforce and Intercom.
・Open the link below.
・Clicking "Try this template" will complete the copy.
Step 2: Chrome Extension Installation Setup
Next, set up the installation of the Chrome extension.
1. Select "My Projects" in the Yoom management screen and click "Register specified customers from Salesforce as Intercom contacts". ※The template title can be changed freely on the next screen.
2. Click "Install Extension". ※For more about Chrome extensions, please check here.
3. Click "Add to Chrome".
4. Clicking "Add Extension" completes the extension setup.
Step 3: Salesforce Trigger Setup
This flow can be triggered directly from Salesforce by using the Chrome extension as a trigger.
1. Click "Chrome Extension Trigger Launch from Account Object Record".
2. Confirm the account to be linked with Salesforce and click "Next". ※Other items are set by default.
3. Enter the My Domain URL and the launch page URL sample, then click "Test". ※Set the launch page URL sample to the page URL of the customer you want to register in Intercom. Details are explained on the help page.
4. If the test is successful, the information obtained from Salesforce will be retrieved in the output. If there are no issues, save it.
Step 4: Intercom Setup
Finally, set up to register the information obtained from Salesforce as Intercom contacts.
1. Click "Create Contact to Integrate with App".
2. Confirm the account to be linked with Intercom and click "Next". ※Other items are set by default.
3. Set the information to be registered as a contact and click "Test". ※Select either user or lead for the contact type. ※For other items, click the frame and select from the output "Launch from Account Object Record". (Values are displayed in double brackets) This allows dynamic reflection of content that varies for each customer. ※Set the country code for the phone number (Japan is "+81"). If the phone number registered in Salesforce does not have a country code, directly enter the country code and then set the phone number from the output. (Input example: +81{{phone number}}) If there are multiple country codes for a customer, add the country code to the phone number in Salesforce.
4. If the test is successful, customer information will be registered as Intercom contacts. If there are no issues, save it.
5. Turn the trigger ON.
6. When launching the flow, open the page of the customer to be registered in Intercom in Salesforce. Then click the extension icon in the top right and select Yoom.
7. The created flow will be displayed, so click "Launch".
8. Clicking "Launch" will allow you to register the specified customer from Salesforce as an Intercom contact.
If you have any questions about the introduced flow, please check the help page.

I've been running a personal blog for over 5 years.
When writing, it is important to explain the information readers want to know in an easy-to-understand manner.
Based on the writing experience I learned in managing a blog, I will introduce how to use and appeal of Yoom, which can automate complex tasks without code, in an easy-to-understand manner.
Conventional RPA can only automate simple repetitive tasks, and the setup process was very complicated. With “hyperautomation,” which combines various technologies such as AI, API, RPA, and OCR, it is possible to automate many tasks that could not be realized until now more easily than before.
Most tools simply connect one app to another, leaving the complex tasks to you. Yoom goes much further: From document creation and browser automation to OCR and generative AI, Yoom handles it all seamlessly in one platform.
Why settle for basic integrations? Streamline your entire workflow with Yoom’s powerful hyperautomation.
