[No Code Solution] How to Automatically Integrate Discord Data with GitHub

Have you ever thought, "I wish I could create a GitHub issue from a Discord message"?
For example, it's cumbersome to reflect a bug report made on Discord onto GitHub.
Manual transcription often leads to missed or incorrect issue creation.

However, by implementing automation that creates GitHub issues based on Discord message content, you can solve this problem.
This allows you to save the hassle of manual work and reduce working time.
Additionally, it's possible to automatically search GitHub issues based on Discord message content and notify you.

This time, we will explain how to connect and automate Discord and GitHub without code.
Reduce manual transcription work and manage tasks smoothly!

For those who want to try it quickly

By using Yoom, you can easily connect Discord and GitHub without code.
Yoom provides templates for connecting Discord and GitHub in advance, so you can achieve integration immediately just by registering, even without API knowledge.

What You Can Do by Integrating Discord and GitHub

By integrating the APIs of Discord and GitHub, you can automatically link Discord data to GitHub!
For example, you can automate data integration like the examples below without any manual intervention.

Simply click "Try it out" on the automation example you're interested in and register an account to immediately experience the integration of Discord and GitHub.
Registration takes just 30 seconds, so feel free to give it a try!

Create a GitHub Issue Based on Discord Posts

By utilizing this flow, the content posted on Discord will automatically be reflected in a GitHub Issue.
This eliminates the hassle of manually transferring information to GitHub, thereby reducing your workload.
Additionally, since there is no time lag in transferring information, you can quickly share information with your team members.

Search and Notify GitHub Issues Based on Discord Posts

You can automatically search for GitHub issues based on the content of Discord posts and receive notifications.
This can improve the speed of problem resolution.
Additionally, using Discord allows for smooth information sharing with stakeholders.

3. Notify Discord when an Issue is updated on GitHub

Manually notifying stakeholders on Discord every time an issue is updated on GitHub is cumbersome and can cause time lags.
By using this flow, you can automatically notify Discord every time an issue is updated! This reduces the hassle of notification tasks and allows you to focus on more important work.

Let's Create a Discord and GitHub Integration Flow

Let's get started by creating a flow that integrates Discord and GitHub!
This time, we'll use Yoom to proceed with the integration of Discord and GitHub without any coding. If you don't have a Yoom account yet, please issue one from this registration form.

[What is Yoom]

This time, we will create a flow that creates an Issue on GitHub based on the content posted on Discord!
The creation process is broadly divided into the following steps.

  • Integrate Discord and GitHub into My Apps
  • Copy the template
  • Set up the app trigger
  • Use AI features to extract data from text
  • Integrate with GitHub and create an Issue
  • Set the trigger to ON and complete the preparation for flow operation

Step 1: Connect Discord and GitHub to My Apps

(1) After logging into Yoom, select "My Apps" from the left column and click "+ Add".
From the list of new connections in My Apps, click on Discord.

(2) On the "New Discord Registration" screen, enter your account name and access token, and press "Add".
To obtain the access token, please configure it from the following site.

Discord Developer Portal

For detailed instructions on how to connect My Apps, please refer to the following site.

How to Connect Discord Bot to My Apps

(3) Next, connect GitHub. Similarly, click on GitHub from the list of new connections in Yoom.
Sign in with your account from the GitHub sign-in screen.

Once the connection is complete, Discord and GitHub will be registered in My Apps on Yoom.

This completes the registration of My Apps.
Next, let's set up triggers using templates!

Step 2: Copy the Template

We will use the template introduced earlier.
Click "Try it" on the banner below to copy it.
Once copied, the template will be copied to your Yoom management screen as shown below, so press OK to proceed with the setup.

Step 3: Setting Up App Trigger

(1) Configure the settings for when a message is sent to Discord.
Click on "When a message is sent in a channel" in the app trigger.

(2) From the "Select Linked Account and Action" screen in Discord, verify that there are no errors in the account information linked with Discord, keep the trigger action as "When a message is sent on a channel," and click "Next."

(3) From the "App Trigger API Connection Settings" screen, select the trigger activation interval.
Select the trigger activation interval from the dropdown options of 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 60 minutes.
Note: The shortest trigger activation interval may vary depending on the plan, so please be aware.

Scroll down, verify the red line, and enter the server ID and channel ID.
Once the input is complete, click "Test."

Let's post the message content to Discord for testing.
Once the setup is complete, click "Test" at the bottom.
If the Discord information is reflected in the output, the test is successful.
If you're wondering "What is output?", please refer to the site below!

About Output

Click "Save" at the bottom and proceed to the next step!

Step 4: Extract Data from Text Using AI Features

(1) Next, extract data from text using AI features.
Click on "Extract Data from Text".

(2) From the "Select Action" screen, click "Change."

Select the conversion type according to the number of characters in the text.
Once the selection is complete, click "Next."

(3) From the "Set Details" screen, input the "Target Text" using the output.
By using the output, you can reference the information obtained by the app trigger!

Scroll down and enter the items you want to extract, separated by commas.
Once the input is complete, click "Test," and if no errors occur, click "Save" at the bottom.

Step 5: Integrate with GitHub and Create an Issue

(1) Next, integrate with GitHub to create an issue.
Click "Create Issue."

(2) From the "Select Linked Account and Action" screen in GitHub, verify that there are no errors in the account information linked with GitHub, keep the action as "Create Issue," and click "Next."

(3) From the "API Connection Settings" screen, verify the red line and enter the owner name and repository name.

Scroll down and input the title and comment using the output to reference Discord information!
Once the input is complete, click "Test" at the bottom, and if no errors occur, click "Save."

Step 6: Set Trigger to ON and Prepare for Flow Operation

Well done! All settings are now complete.
Once the setup is complete, a menu like the one below will be displayed, so turn the trigger ON.

Try running the flow bot to see if an issue is created in GitHub based on the Discord post content!
