Recommended for

  • Those who manage information in Google Sheets for sales teams or customer support and want to track progress in a timely manner.
  • Those who manage projects or tasks in spreadsheets and want to implement an efficient notification system.
  • Company representatives who want to automate notification sending and data checking for routine tasks.
  • Those who have multiple people adding information to Google Sheets within a team and want to share information in a timely manner.
  • Those who want to streamline progress checks and task management but are spending too much time on manual work.

Benefits and Examples of Integrating Google Sheets with Pushover

Benefit 1: Timely Understanding of Business Status

You can immediately know when Google Sheets is updated. This allows you to grasp the progress of work in a timely manner and respond quickly.
When the sales team enters new client information into the spreadsheet, a notification is immediately sent. Sales representatives can quickly move to the next action based on that information.
For example, timely responses such as scheduling meetings or contacting customers become possible. Even if multiple people update the spreadsheet simultaneously, you can check who updated what information in real-time, increasing the transparency of the entire team's work. This facilitates smooth information sharing and strengthens team collaboration.

Benefit 2: Efficient Task Management

You can immediately know when the task management sheet is updated. This allows you to grasp task progress in a timely manner and achieve efficient task management.
For example, in project management, set it up so that notifications are sent every time a new task is added. By checking the notifications, the person in charge can immediately understand the priority and deadline of the new task and start working. This prevents delays in starting tasks and ensures smooth project schedule management. Also, by sharing task progress, all team members can understand the overall picture of the project and work together.

Benefit 3: Reduction of Manual Work through Automation

By integrating Google Sheets with Pushover, you can automate tasks that were previously done manually. This reduces human errors and is expected to improve work efficiency.
For example, consider the task of manually checking spreadsheet data daily and notifying stakeholders if it meets certain conditions. By automating this task, the person in charge is freed from the task of sending notifications and can focus on more important work. Additionally, automation prevents human errors and data confirmation omissions, improving the accuracy of work.

[About Yoom]

Next, we will introduce how to create a Flowbot in Yoom, which allows app integration without programming, for "Sending push notifications with Pushover when a row is added in Google Sheets".

How to Send Added Content in Google Sheets to Pushover

It is possible to send push notifications using Pushover's API when a row is added in Google Sheets as a trigger. Generally, programming knowledge is required to achieve this, but using no-code tools allows easy setup without programming knowledge.

This flow is broadly divided into the following processes.

  • Integrate Google Sheets and Pushover with My Apps
  • Set a trigger to activate when a row is added in Google Sheets
  • Set Pushover's "Send to Message"
  • Update the record in Google Sheets
  • Turn on the trigger button

First, register with Yoom. Yoom offers a 2-week trial.
You can actually operate and check the usability.

Step 1: Connect Google Sheets and Pushover with My App

This explains how to connect Google Sheets and Pushover to Yoom.
Registering My App in advance will make the automation setup smoother.

Enter the name of the app to connect in the box.

Yoom is requesting additional access to your Google account. Press Continue.
When you move to the authentication screen, select Allow all permissions.

The screen will switch, and if the above display appears, the connection is complete.

■Prepare Google Sheets

Prepare the Google Sheets where you manage the tasks you want to add.
It is set as follows, but feel free to change the item contents.

■Pushover Settings

Click "My Apps" in the left column and search for Pushover from "New Connection".

Refer to the annotations on the new registration screen, fill in all the blanks, and click Add. This completes the My App registration.

Next, copy the template to My Project, and then create a Flowbot.
If you haven't copied it yet, please copy the Flowbot template from below.

Step 2: Set a Trigger to Activate When a Row is Added in Google Sheets

From here, we will edit the flow bot.

Click on the "When a Row is Added" icon in Google Sheets.

Check for any errors in the account information to be linked, enter the necessary items, and click "Next".

Set the activation interval.
The trigger can be set to activate at intervals of 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 60 minutes.
Please note that the shortest activation interval varies depending on the plan.

Since the data in Google Sheets will be displayed in a list, click on the sheet you want to link and insert it.
Similarly, set the Sheet ID.

Specify the table range.

In this case, the table range of the prepared Google Sheets is A to F.

Once the settings are complete, press the test button.
If "Test Successful" is displayed, it is complete. Click Save.

Step 3: Set "Send to Message" in Pushover

Click on the "Send Push Message" icon in Pushover.

Check for any errors in the account information to be linked, enter the necessary items, and click "Next".

Set up the API connection. From within the screen box, select the record values for each item from the output.
*Here, we will temporarily set "Person in Charge" as the User Key.

Next, set the Title and Message.
*Here, we will temporarily set it with the above content.
Once the settings are complete, click "Test" → "Test Successful" → "Save".

Step 4: Update Records in Google Sheets

Set up an action to automatically update Google Sheets.
First, as before, check the account and spreadsheet ID.
Additionally, you can specify the sheet tab to update the records at the bottom of the same page.

Once each setting is complete, click "Next" to verify the connection.
Once the connection is successfully verified, set the conditions for updating the records.

This feature updates records in rows that match the "conditions for the record you want to update" with the "value of the record after update".
In the above image, it instructs to create the "Record ID" of Pushover in the row of "Notification ID" in Google Sheets.

Once the settings are complete, click "Test" to verify if it is reflected in Google Sheets.
If it is successfully reflected, all settings are complete.

Step 5: Turn ON the Trigger Button

Once the flow bot is created, the above display will appear. The trigger is initially set to OFF, so turn it ON.
