■Overview
Are you spending too much time converting video file formats, especially from MKV to MP4? Manual conversion not only creates wait times but can also take time away from other tasks. With this workflow, Convertio automatically converts files when specific files are uploaded to Box, then saves them to a designated Dropbox folder. Automate the entire process of converting MKV files to MP4, eliminating manual work and streamlining content management.
■Who Should Use This Template
- Those looking to streamline recurring MKV-to-MP4 file conversion tasks
- Those managing and sharing video files with their team using Box or Dropbox
- Those looking to eliminate the wait time associated with manual file conversion and improve operational efficiency
■Benefits of This Template
- Conversion and storage run automatically after uploading a file to Box, reducing the time previously spent on manual conversion.
- Prevent human errors such as forgetting to save converted files or saving them to the wrong location, helping improve operational reliability.
■Flow Bot Steps
- First, connect Box, Convertio, and Dropbox with Yoom.
- Next, select Box as the trigger and set the action to “When a file is uploaded to a folder.”
- Set up a branch in the operation so that subsequent steps run only when the uploaded file is in MKV format.
- In Convertio, set the “Convert a file” action and specify MP4 as the output format.
- After the conversion is complete, use Convertio’s “Retrieve the converted file” action to get the MP4 file.
- Use the data transformation feature’s “Replace data using regular expressions” to change the file name to your preferred name.
- Finally, use Dropbox’s “Upload a file” action to save the converted file to the designated folder.
※“Trigger”: An action that starts a flow. “Operation”: An action that performs processing within a flow after the trigger starts.
■Customization Options
- In the Box trigger settings, specify the folder where you want to detect uploaded files.
- With the branching feature, you can freely customize the execution conditions, such as proceeding only when the file name contains “.mkv.”
- In Convertio’s conversion settings, you can specify the output format and other details for the converted file.
- In the Dropbox upload settings, you can specify the destination folder path and the file name to use when saving the file.
■Notes
- Connect Box, Convertio, and Dropbox with Yoom.
- The maximum downloadable file size is 300 MB. Depending on the app specifications, the limit may be less than 300 MB.
- For details on the file size limits supported by the trigger and each operation, see below: See details
- Branching is available as an operation on the Mini plan and above. On the Free plan, operations configured in the Flow Bot will result in an error.
- Paid plans, including the Mini plan, come with a 2-week free trial. During the free trial, you can use apps and features (operations) that are otherwise restricted.
