How to translate messages sent to Slack using AI and send them to Discord
a.ohta
In the IT society, it has become common to work on projects with overseas members. However, there is inevitably a variation in language skills among individuals, making it difficult for the entire Japanese team to understand other languages.
In such cases, translation tools are convenient, but if each person translates messages sent from the overseas team, discrepancies in understanding may arise. It might be better to translate the messages from the overseas team and resend them in Japanese, but this can also feel cumbersome.
Therefore, this time, we will introduce a solution to such concerns!
With Yoom's app integration, the scope of communication might expand. Please read until the end!

[About Yoom]
How to Create a Slack and Discord Integration Flow
Now, let's introduce the steps to create a flow bot that "translates messages posted on Slack and posts the translated version on Discord."
The flow bot process this time consists of three steps in total!
Using a template with minimal settings allows you to create a flow bot quickly.
First, proceed with Yoom registration from the "Try it" button on the banner of the template below! If you have already completed the registration, the login screen will be displayed, so please log in!
My App Integration
Once you have completed the registration for Yoom and copied the template, a screen like the one above will be displayed, and you will be taken to a page called "My Project". Once this is done, let's proceed to integrate Slack and Discord with Yoom. This is called "My App Integration"! ↓ First, let's integrate Slack with Yoom. Select My Apps from the menu on the screen and click "Add" in the top right corner! Enter "Slack" in the search window, and when the Slack icon appears, click on it.
A screen like the one above will appear, so select the desired channel and press "Allow" to integrate Slack with Yoom. ↓ Next, let's proceed to the My App Integration for Discord. Click "Add" in the top right corner! Enter "Discord" in the search window, and select Discord icon.
Then, proceed with the registration while checking the red-framed Discord My App Integration Details Page. Once the required fields in the image above are filled in, press Add in the bottom right corner, and you're good to go!
With both Slack and Discord integrated with Yoom, let's move on to setting up the contents of the flow bot.
Slack Trigger Settings
From My Project on the left side of the screen, click on "Translate messages posted on Slack and post the translated version on Discord"! Press Edit in the top right corner.
↓
Click on "When a message is sent in a channel" under the Slack icon. Since the necessary fields are already filled in due to using the template, check that the account information linked with Slack is correct, and then click Next! ↓
Next, let's select the Slack channel. Messages posted in the channel selected here will be notified to Discord. Choose any channel you like.
Click inside the box labeled Channel ID, and a list of Slack channels will be displayed. Select one, and you're good to go!
Once this is done, send an English message to Slack. Then return to Yoom and press the Test Button at the bottom of the screen. If "Test Successful" is displayed in blue, you're good to go, so press Save!
Translation Settings
Select "Translate" under the icon with alphabets and hiragana.
Let's set up the action. The number of characters selected for the action here will be translated, so choose any number of characters you like.
Once the action is selected, press Next. ↓
Let's set up the message to be translated. Click inside the box labeled Text to be Translated and...
It will display like this, so select "When a message is sent in a channel" under the Slack icon and choose "Message Content". For the required field of the target language for translation, enter any language you like!
This is how I set it up this time.
Once this is set up, press the Test Button, and if "Test Successful" is displayed in blue, you're good to go! Press Save and move on to the next setting.
Discord Settings
Click on "Send a message to a thread" under the Discord icon. As with the previous steps, the necessary fields are already filled in due to using the template, so check that the account information linked with Discord is correct, and then click Next.
↓
Enter the Channel ID.
The Channel ID is displayed in the URL of the Discord channel, so you can copy and paste it!
The next step is the final setting! Let's decide on the content to be notified to Discord.
Click inside the message box, and the translated message from earlier will be available for selection, so just choose it.
The red-framed item in the image is the translated message.
Once you can select it as shown in the image, press Test at the bottom of the screen, and if "Test Successful" is displayed in blue, you're good to go. The test also sent a notification to Discord, right!
Once this is done, press Save. This concludes the integration of Slack and Discord. Well done!
Other Automation Examples Using Slack and Discord
In addition to the flow introduced this time, you can achieve various business automations by using the APIs of Slack and Discord. All of them can be used with simple settings, so if you find something that interests you, please give it a try!
Other Automation Examples with Slack and Discord
You can summarize the content of Slack posts and notify Discord, or notify Slack of messages posted. Additionally, it is possible to integrate Meta Ads (Facebook) and Yoom's schedule triggers to obtain reports and notify Discord.
Example of Automation Using Slack
Register and add when a message containing a specific keyword is received on Slack
Automation can prevent human errors in task creation and help maintain a stable task management process.
Notify on Slack when a lead is registered
When lead information is added, it is automatically notified on Slack, leading to quicker information awareness.
Integrate Yoom's Database with Slack
By including database operations from Yoom in your notifications, you can share information and quickly catch the necessary details.
Examples of Automation Using Discord
Notify Discord with Meeting Minutes After the Meeting Ends
Creating meeting minutes manually can lead to human errors such as sharing omissions, but automation might help reduce these risks.
Notify on Discord when a file is uploaded
By being able to confirm the upload of new documents on Discord, it may reduce the effort required for verification tasks.
Benefits of Integrating Slack and Discord
1. Reduce Misunderstandings!
Messages sent from overseas to Slack can be automatically translated and then automatically sent to Discord! This allows all team members to read messages translated by a single translation tool, reducing the likelihood of nuances being misunderstood and making it easier to maintain a consistent level of message comprehension.
2. Reduce the Use of Multiple Tools and Maintain Speed!
Translating messages sent to Slack each time can be quite cumbersome depending on the frequency. Additionally, when busy with work, translation may be delayed, causing time loss from receiving to translating, and then from translating to resending to Discord. In such cases, if Slack messages can be automatically translated, you can check messages without losing speed!
Summary
In cases like this, the more times you translate, the more effort it takes. By reducing the number of steps for a single task as much as possible and reviewing the workflow, you can expect to improve efficiency. This is a very practical app integration, so please take this opportunity to try Yoom's app integration!

After working as a general store manager, I started working from home as an SEO writer. Later, an outsourcing agreement was signed with a marketing startup for about 5 years.
Surrounded by students at the University of Tokyo, I held a computer and spent my days studying various business terms and how to use SaaS tools.
When I was a general store manager, time was taken over and over again by office work such as sales and inventory management, human resource management, and ordering, etc., and I was unable to serve customers and often missed sales times. Even when outsourcing, there are many detailed tasks such as input, etc., and “can't such monotonous tasks be automated?” I thought so, and I really sympathize with Yoom's vision!
Conventional RPA can only automate simple repetitive tasks, and the setup process was very complicated. With “hyperautomation,” which combines various technologies such as AI, API, RPA, and OCR, it is possible to automate many tasks that could not be realized until now more easily than before.
Most tools simply connect one app to another, leaving the complex tasks to you. Yoom goes much further: From document creation and browser automation to OCR and generative AI, Yoom handles it all seamlessly in one platform.
Why settle for basic integrations? Streamline your entire workflow with Yoom’s powerful hyperautomation.
