You can start right away with the template below, so please give it a try!

[What is Yoom]

How to Integrate Notion and Jira Software

Now, let's create a flow bot that "adds data to Notion when an issue is created in Jira Software."
Using the Japanese no-code tool Yoom, even those without programming knowledge can easily automate the flow!

First, let's integrate Yoom with each app.
This is called "My App Integration." My App Integration is very easy!

My App Settings for Notion and Jira Software

Click the template banner, and at the bottom of the screen, there is a button that says "Try this template," so press it.
This will take you to a page called "My Project," where you select "My Apps" from the menu on the left side of the screen!

     ↓

Click on New Creation at the top right! Enter "Notion" in the search window, and the Notion icon will appear, so click it.

     ↓

You will transition to a screen like the above, so press "Select Page."
Select the page to integrate with Jira Software and click on grant access to complete the integration!
Once you return to the Yoom screen, next, let's register My App for Jira Software.

     ↓

Press New Creation at the top right and enter "Jira Software," and the Jira Software icon will appear. Click it!

     ↓

Then, New Creation will appear at the top right, so click it!

Enter the account name and access token.
There is a page that explains this in detail from here, so please refer to it!

How to Register My App for Jira Software

Once the access token is successfully converted, please press Add.
Now that the two apps are integrated with Yoom, please proceed by copying the banner below.

1. Hover over the banner and click "View Details"
2. Click "Try this template" on the page you are redirected to
3. Register for Yoom
* If you have already registered, the login screen will be displayed, so please log in.

Setting Triggers in Jira Software

First, you will need to send a test while creating the flowbot.
Therefore, create a suitable issue in Jira Software.

Once you have created the issue, set the trigger in Jira Software. Return to My Projects on the left side of the screen.
Enter the page titled "[Copy] When an issue is created in Jira Software, add data to Notion" and click edit in the upper right corner!

     ↓

Click on "When an issue is created" under the Jira Software icon!

     ↓

App Trigger Title and Trigger Action are set to "When an issue is created"!
Since you are using the template prepared by Yoom, there is no need to input anything here. You can easily use Yoom's services without having to create a flowbot from scratch!

     ↓

Press Next and enter the subdomain.
The subdomain is in the URL of Jira Software, so you can copy and paste it!

Next, enter the project key for Jira Software.
The project key differs for each project created, so remember the key for the project you want to link with Notion.

Checking the project key in Jira Software is easy!

Click on the project at the top of the Jira Software page and click to display all projects!
The key is next to the project name.
If there are other projects you want to reflect in Notion, it will be easier if you keep track of the keys.

Once you have entered the subdomain and project key, press the test button just below.
It will be displayed in blue as "Test Successful", so save it!

This concludes the trigger settings for Jira Software.
Let's proceed to the Notion settings.

Notion Settings

Click on "Add Record" under the Notion icon!

     ↓

The Title and Execution Action are already entered here, so enter the Notion database ID.

     ↓

Then, continue to add the content you want to record in Notion.

When you hover over and click inside the input box, you will see an option like "When an issue is created" as shown in the image above, so press it.
This will display a list of information that can be added to Notion, so just select the ones you want!

It is recommended to choose items that correspond with the content of the boxes, such as Subject = Issue Title.

     ↓

After making your selections, press the test button, and if successful, check Notion!
The content from Jira Software is added to the specified page. Once confirmed, don't forget to press save.

Next, try creating a new issue in Jira Software. How about that! The issue created in Jira Software is automatically recorded in Notion!

The moment of creating a flowbot is the happiest...!
This concludes the creation of the flowbot. Thank you for your hard work!

Benefits and Use Cases of Integrating Jira Software with Notion

1. Easy Sharing of Status Across the Team

By integrating Jira Software with Notion, the progress of issues in Jira Software is automatically added to Notion, creating an environment where the team can quickly grasp the situation.

For example, when the development team creates a new task, that information is accumulated in Notion, allowing non-technical departments to access the latest project information.
This reduces the hassle of inter-departmental communication and status checks, unifying information among members and smoothing communication.

2. Time and Effort Reduction Through Automatic Data Accumulation

Since issues that occur in Jira Software are automatically added to Notion, manual transcription work is unnecessary, maintaining data consistency.

For example, when a project manager checks weekly progress, they can simply refer to the data automatically accumulated in Notion to confirm the latest information, reducing the time spent on information updates.
Additionally, editing and adding data in Notion is easy, making it simpler to add task details.

3. Centralized Management of Data from Different Teams

By integrating Jira Software and Notion, data from different tools used by technical and non-technical departments is centralized in Notion, allowing both teams to operate based on the same information.

For example, by allowing project managers to check the overall situation on Notion while providing access to non-technical departments, real-time data sharing is realized, facilitating smooth project progress.

Conclusion

How you use it is up to you. Notion, which holds infinite possibilities, is a perfect match for Jira Software, which excels in complex software development.
With easy data accumulation and sharing, and the potential for automating task management and creation, you can expect an increase in work efficiency!

Please try creating a Flowbot with Yoom and aim for flow automation.

The person who wrote this article

After working as a general store manager, I started working from home as an SEO writer. Later, an outsourcing agreement was signed with a marketing startup for about 5 years. Surrounded by students at the University of Tokyo, I held a computer and spent my days studying various business terms and how to use SaaS tools. When I was a general store manager, time was taken over and over again by office work such as sales and inventory management, human resource management, and ordering, etc., and I was unable to serve customers and often missed sales times. Even when outsourcing, there are many detailed tasks such as input, etc., and “can't such monotonous tasks be automated?” I thought so, and I really sympathize with Yoom's vision!
