[No Code Required] How to Automatically Link Confluence Data to Trello

y.matsumoto

Many people might feel, "I wish adding tasks manually was easier..." Using different tools like Confluence for document management and Trello for task management and entering data manually can be inefficient. Automating these workflows might help solve such issues.

By integrating Confluence and Trello, you can automate this process. For example, you can automatically create a card in Trello when a new page is created in Confluence. This helps prevent situations like "I forgot to add the task again."

This time, we will introduce how to integrate Confluence and Trello, what you can do with the integration, and how to set it up.

For those who want to try it quickly

You can easily integrate Confluence and Trello without any code by using Yoom. Yoom provides templates for integrating Confluence and Trello, allowing you to achieve integration immediately just by registering, even without API knowledge.

What You Can Do by Integrating Confluence and Trello

By integrating the APIs of Confluence and Trello, you can automatically link Confluence data to Trello!
For example, you can automatically perform data integration like the examples below without any manual intervention.

Simply click "Try it out" on the automation example you're interested in and register an account to immediately experience the integration of Confluence and Trello.
Registration takes just 30 seconds, so feel free to give it a try!

Create a Card in Trello When a Page is Created in Confluence

Every time you create a page in Confluence, a card can be automatically added to Trello, eliminating the need for manual input and ensuring consistency of information.
This flow is recommended for those who want to improve team efficiency, as it facilitates smooth document updates and task management!

Let's Create a Confluence and Trello Integration Flow

Now, let's create a flow that integrates Confluence and Trello!
We'll be using Yoom to proceed with the integration of Confluence and Trello without any coding. If you don't have a Yoom account yet, please create one using this registration form.

[What is Yoom]

This time, we will create a flow bot that creates a card in Trello when a page is created in Confluence!
The creation process is broadly divided into the following steps:

  • Integrate Confluence and Trello with My Apps
  • Copy the template
  • Set up the trigger in Confluence and the action in Trello
  • Turn on the trigger and activate the flow bot

Step 1: My App Integration with Confluence and Trello

1. How to Register Confluence

Click the "My Apps" button on the Yoom screen, then click the "+ Add" button and search for Confluence.

The Confluence login screen will appear, so please enter your email address and password to log in.

This completes the My App integration with Confluence.

2. How to Register Trello

Similarly, click the "New Connection" button and search for Trello.
To register Trello in My Apps, you need to enter the following items.
If you are unsure how to set it up, please check this link.
Once you have completed the entry, click "Add".

This completes the My App integration with Trello.

‍Step 2: Copy the Template

Now, let's explain how to create a flow!
Yoom provides templates with simple settings already configured.

Once you log in to Yoom, click "Try it" on the template below to copy it.

Once the copy is made, click "OK" to start the setup!

Step 3: Set the trigger to activate when a page is created in Confluence

First, select the "Page Created" option from the Confluence icon to begin setting it up!

The next page is already set up.
Ensure that the trigger action is set to "Page Created" and proceed to the next page.

Next, set the trigger activation interval.
The trigger activation timing can be set to either 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 60 minutes.
Depending on your plan, the shortest interval for setting the trigger may vary, so be sure to check this.
It is generally recommended to use the shortest activation interval available for your plan.

Click inside the frame to display "candidates" and select the desired candidate to use for the cloud ID.

Once the above settings are complete, switch to Confluence and create a page for testing purposes.
(Feel free to set the content of the page as you like!)

After completing the page creation, return to the Yoom screen.
When you run the test, the information from the page you just created will be retrieved as output, so click the "Save" button.
※Reference: For more about the output, please see here.

Step 4: Create a new card in Trello

In the next step, set the "Create a new card" option from the Trello icon.

The next page is already set up.
Ensure that the action is set to "Create a new card" and proceed to the next page.

Please refer to the annotations outside the frame to set the board ID.

Click inside the frame to select a list ID from the displayed candidates.

The page title is set by default.
By setting it this way, when a page is created in Confluence, the "page title" can be automatically retrieved and quoted as the title of the Trello card!

Set the due date freely according to your needs.
This time, the due date is set to "End of month".
※Note: Be sure to set it in the format "2021-01-01".

Once you have set up to this point, run the test and save the settings.

Step 5: Turn on the trigger

This completes the flow of "Creating a card in Trello when a page is created in Confluence"!
When the screen below is displayed, click "Turn on the trigger" to check if the flow bot is working correctly.

If you want to integrate Trello with Confluence

This time we introduced how to integrate data from Confluence to Trello, but if you want to integrate data from Trello to Confluence, please also use the template below.

Create a page in Confluence when a card is created in Trello

When a new task is added, a related page is automatically created quickly, significantly reducing the effort of information sharing and document creation within the team.
This flow is recommended for those who want to achieve efficient project management and centralized information management!

Create a Confluence page when a Trello card is moved to a specific list

By utilizing this flow, you can automatically create a page in Confluence just by moving a card on Trello.
This flow is recommended for those who want to prevent human error and reduce the hassle of manual work!

Other Automation Examples Using Confluence and Trello APIs

When a message is posted in a chat tool, a page can be automatically created in Confluence.
The content of the Confluence page can be added to a database.

Automation Example Using Trello

You can notify card information from Trello via email.
Business card information attached to a form can be read using OCR and added as a Trello card.

Conclusion

By integrating Confluence and Trello, you can reduce manual work and expect to improve work speed.
For example, if you automatically create a card in Trello after creating a page in Confluence, you can reduce transcription errors and centralize task management.
Additionally, data can be integrated from Trello to Confluence, allowing you to add task information to related pages.
This will reduce manual work and prevent human errors.

What is Yoom hyperautomation?
Conventional RPA can only automate simple repetitive tasks, and the setup process was very complicated.
With “hyperautomation,” which combines various technologies such as AI, API, RPA, and OCR, it is possible to automate many tasks that could not be realized until now more easily than before.
Don't Just Connect Apps—Automate Everything
Most tools simply connect one app to another, leaving the complex tasks to you. Yoom goes much further: From document creation and browser automation to OCR and generative AI, Yoom handles it all seamlessly in one platform.

Why settle for basic integrations? Streamline your entire workflow with Yoom’s powerful hyperautomation.
