Create a GitHub issue after approval when a record matching specific conditions is added to Airtable
■Overview
Do you find it time-consuming to manually transfer tasks and bug reports managed in Airtable to GitHub Issues? This process not only takes time but can also lead to human errors, such as copy-and-paste mistakes and missed follow-ups. By using this workflow, you can automate the integration between Airtable and GitHub. When a specific record, such as an urgent request, is added to Airtable, a GitHub Issue is automatically created after going through an approval flow, helping streamline your development process.
■Who Is This Template For?
- Development team members who manage tasks in Airtable and manually create Issues in GitHub
- Managers who want to automate information sharing between Airtable and GitHub and streamline project management
- Those who want to incorporate an approval process into reporting and request workflows within their development team while maintaining control over automation
■Benefits of Using This Template
- Starting with a new record in Airtable, only information that meets the specified conditions is automatically used to create a GitHub Issue, reducing the time spent on manual data entry.
- Help prevent human errors that commonly occur during manual information sharing, such as data entry mistakes and missed task follow-ups.
■Flow Bot Steps
- First, connect Airtable and GitHub to Yoom.
- Next, select Airtable as the trigger and set the action to “When a record is created.”
- Then, configure the branching feature in an operation so that the workflow proceeds only when specific conditions are met.
- Next, configure the request assignee feature in an operation to send relevant stakeholders a request for approval to create the Issue.
- Finally, configure GitHub’s “Create an Issue” action in an operation to create an Issue based on the approved details.
※“Trigger”: An action that starts the flow. “Operation”: An action that processes data within the flow after the trigger starts.
■Customization Options for This Workflow
- In the Airtable trigger settings, you can specify the base and table to monitor and freely retrieve the values of the fields you want to use when creating the Issue.
- With the branching feature, you can configure the workflow to proceed to the approval request only when specific conditions based on Airtable field information are met, such as when the urgency is high.
- With the request assignee feature, you can freely designate approvers, customize the request message, and configure the form fields that assignees complete when approving the request.
- In the GitHub action for creating an Issue, you can specify any repository. You can also automatically insert information retrieved from Airtable as variables into the Issue title and body.
■Notes
- Connect both Airtable and GitHub to Yoom.
- Branching is an operation available on the Mini plan and above. Please note that if you are on the Free plan, the configured operation in your flow bot will result in an error.
- Paid plans, such as the Mini plan, offer a two-week free trial. During the free trial, you can use apps and features (operations) that are subject to plan restrictions.
- You can select a trigger interval of 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
- Please note that the shortest available trigger interval varies by plan.
