Update Microsoft Excel when a task is updated in ClickUp

Update Microsoft Excel when a task is updated in ClickUp

Launch this workflow to connect ClickUp & Microsoft Excel !

■Overview

Do you find it time-consuming to manually transfer task progress and other updates when using the project management tool ClickUp alongside the spreadsheet software Microsoft Excel? These routine updates can also lead to errors. With this workflow, whenever a task is updated in ClickUp, the corresponding Microsoft Excel record is updated automatically, reducing the effort required for data integration while keeping your information accurate.

■Who Should Use This Template

  • Anyone who uses ClickUp and Microsoft Excel together and manually transfers task information
  • Anyone who tracks project progress data in Microsoft Excel and wants to streamline the update process
  • Anyone who wants to prevent missed updates and data entry errors while improving data management accuracy

■Benefits of This Template

  • When task information is updated in ClickUp, it is automatically reflected in Microsoft Excel, reducing the time previously spent on manual updates
  • Eliminating manual data transfer helps reduce the risk of human errors, such as incorrect entries and missed updates

■Flowbot Steps

  1. First, connect ClickUp and Microsoft Excel to Yoom
  2. Next, select ClickUp as the trigger and set the action to “When a task is updated”
  3. Then, set the ClickUp “Get a task” action as an operation to retrieve detailed information about the updated task
  4. Finally, set the Microsoft Excel “Update a record” action as an operation to update a specific record based on the retrieved task information

※ “Trigger”: An action that starts the flow. “Operation”: An action that runs a process within the flow after the trigger is activated.

■Customizing This Workflow

  • In the ClickUp trigger settings, you can specify the “Team,” “Space,” “Folder,” and “List” to be automated using their respective IDs
  • For the Microsoft Excel update action, you can specify the file, sheet, and row to update. You can also use fixed values or embed ClickUp task information retrieved in a previous operation as variables

■Notes‍

  • Connect both ClickUp and Microsoft Excel to Yoom.
  • Microsoft365 (formerly Office365) offers plans for home use and general business use (Microsoft365 Business). Authentication may fail if you are not subscribed to a general business plan.
  • For details on configuring operations that manipulate Microsoft Excel databases, see here.
  • ClickUp date and time outputs are 13-digit UNIX timestamps (milliseconds). When transferring them to Microsoft Excel, you can change the date and time format using functions or other methods. The following is an example of converting the format to Japan Standard Time (JST). You must first apply your preferred date and time format to the target column in Microsoft Excel.
=((({Date and time output, such as the due date}/1000)/86400)+DATE(1970,1,1))+(9/24)
