When a specific row is updated in Google Sheets, run Google Apps Script to copy the sheet and its formatting

When a specific row is updated in Google Sheets, run Google Apps Script to copy the sheet and its formatting

Launch this workflow to connect Google Sheets & Apps Script !
■Overview
Manually running Google Apps Script every time a specific row is updated in Google Sheets can be time-consuming and prone to errors. With this workflow, you can use row updates in Google Sheets as a trigger to automate Google Apps Script execution based on specified conditions. This reduces the burden of routine tasks such as copying sheets and formatting, helping you focus on more important work.

■Who should use this template
  • Anyone who manually runs GAS or performs copy operations when rows in Google Sheets are updated
  • Anyone looking to streamline data processing with Google Sheets and Google Apps Script
  • Teams looking to reduce human error by automating routine sheet operations

■Benefits of using this template
  • Automatically connecting Google Sheets row updates with Google Apps Script execution saves the time previously spent on manual tasks.
  • Reduce the risk of human error, such as forgetting to run a script or copying the wrong data, and improve operational accuracy.

■Flowbot steps
  1. First, connect Google Sheets and Google Apps Script to Yoom.
  2. Next, select Google Sheets as the trigger, set the “When a row is updated” action, and specify the spreadsheet and sheet to monitor.
  3. Then, configure branching in the operation settings and use the “Branch” action to set specific conditions, such as when the value in a particular column changes.
  4. Finally, select Google Apps Script as the operation to run when the conditions are met, and configure the “Run script” action to execute a script that copies the sheet and its formatting.
※“Trigger”: An action that starts a flow. “Operation”: An action that processes data within a flow after the trigger starts.

■Customization options for this workflow
  • In the Google Sheets trigger settings, specify the spreadsheet ID and sheet name for the spreadsheet that will start the flow.
  • With the branching feature, you can set whether to run the subsequent Google Apps Script based on conditions such as the value in a specific column from the updated row data in Google Sheets.
  • In the Google Apps Script action settings, you can pass information retrieved from Google Sheets in the previous step as variables to the function of the script being executed, or set fixed values. This allows you to run scripts that perform dynamic processing based on specific information.

■Notes
  • Connect Google Sheets to Yoom.
  • For important notes when using Google Sheets as an app trigger, see [App Trigger] Important Notes on Google Sheets Triggers.
  • You can choose a trigger interval of 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
  • Note that the shortest available trigger interval varies by plan.
  • Branching is an available feature (operation) on the Personal plan and higher. On the Free plan, operations configured in the Flowbot will result in an error.
  • Paid plans, such as the Personal plan, include a two-week free trial. During the free trial, you can use apps and features (operations) that are otherwise subject to restrictions.
