Create a task in Harvest when an issue matching specific conditions is created in GitHub

Create a task in Harvest when an issue matching specific conditions is created in GitHub

Launch this workflow to connect GitHub & Harvest !
■Overview
Do you manage GitHub Issues and track time in Harvest separately for your development projects? Manually transferring information can lead to missed task creation and data entry errors, making it harder to track project progress accurately.
This workflow automates the integration between GitHub and Harvest. When a GitHub Issue that meets specific conditions is created, a task is automatically created in Harvest, reducing administrative work and enabling smoother project execution.
■Who this template is for
  • Project managers who track time in Harvest based on GitHub Issues
  • Development teams that manually transfer information between GitHub and Harvest and find the process inefficient
  • Teams looking to automate the process from Issue creation to task creation and improve project management accuracy
■Benefits of using this template
  • When an Issue is created in GitHub, a task is automatically created in Harvest, reducing the time previously spent on manual work.
  • Prevent human errors such as missed task creation and transcription errors when copying Issue details manually, improving operational accuracy.
■Workflow steps
  1. First, connect GitHub and Harvest with Yoom.
  2. Next, select GitHub as the trigger and set the action to “When a new Issue is created.”
  3. Then, configure a branching operation so that subsequent steps run only when an Issue matches specific conditions.
  4. Finally, set Harvest’s “Create Task” action as an operation to create a task based on the GitHub Issue information.
※“Trigger”: An action that starts the workflow. “Operation”: An action that processes data within the workflow after the trigger runs.

■Customization options
  • In the branching step, set the conditions that should trigger task creation, such as Issues with specific labels or Issues created in a specific repository.
  • You can freely configure the content of the task created in Harvest using information from the GitHub Issue retrieved by the trigger, such as its title and body.

■Notes‍
  • Connect both Harvest and GitHub with Yoom.
  • You can choose a trigger interval of 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
  • Note that the shortest available trigger interval varies by plan.
  • Branching is an operation available on the Personal plan and above. On the Free plan, the configured workflow operation will result in an error.
  • Paid plans, including the Personal plan, come with a two-week free trial. During the free trial, you can use apps and features (operations) that are otherwise subject to plan restrictions. For details, see the pricing plans page.
