Retrieve Google search results with SerpApi when a specific issue is created in GitHub

Retrieve Google search results with SerpApi when a specific issue is created in GitHub

Launch this workflow to connect GitHub & SerpApi !
■Overview
Do you manually search for relevant information and respond every time a new Issue is created on GitHub? This process is not only time-consuming, but can also lead to delayed responses and missed information. With this workflow, when a specific Issue is created on GitHub, AI extracts keywords from its content, and SerpApi automatically runs a Google search. By automating the information-gathering process, you can resolve issues more smoothly.

■Who should use this template
  • Developers and project managers who want to streamline information gathering for GitHub Issue management
  • Anyone who wants to collect technical and error-related information associated with Issues without the hassle of manual searches
  • Anyone looking to automate daily research tasks using SerpApi and AI features

■Benefits of using this template
  • Google searches run automatically whenever an Issue is created on GitHub, reducing the time spent gathering information and helping you focus on more important tasks.
  • Prevent human errors such as incorrect keywords and missed checks caused by manual searches, helping improve research accuracy.

■How the flow works
  1. First, connect GitHub and SerpApi to Yoom.
  2. Next, select GitHub as the trigger, set the action to “When a new Issue is created,” and retrieve the Issue information.
  3. Then, add the “Branching” feature to the operation and set conditions to determine whether to proceed with subsequent actions based on the retrieved Issue information, such as labels and body content.
  4. Next, select “Text extraction” under the “AI” feature in the operation to extract keywords from the Issue body for use as a search query.
  5. Then, select SerpApi in the operation and use the “Get Google search results” action to run a search based on the keywords extracted by AI.
  6. Finally, configure GitHub’s “Add a comment to an Issue or Pull Request” action in the operation to automatically post the search results retrieved by SerpApi as a comment on the relevant Issue.
※“Trigger”: An action that initiates the flow. “Operation”: An action that runs a process within the flow after the trigger is activated.

■Customizable points in this workflow
  • In the GitHub trigger and operation settings, enter the owner name and repository name for the repository you want to target.
  • With the Branching feature, you can freely set conditions for branching subsequent actions based on information retrieved in the previous step, such as an Issue label or a specific string contained in the body.
  • For AI-powered text extraction, you can specify the items you want to extract from the Issue body, such as error codes or specific product names.
  • In the SerpApi search settings, you can freely customize the search query by adding fixed keywords to the keywords extracted by AI as variables.
  • For the GitHub comment action, you can quote the search results retrieved in the previous step as a variable and customize the comment content as needed.

■Notes
  • Connect both GitHub and SerpApi to Yoom.
  • You can select a trigger interval of 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
  • Available minimum trigger intervals vary by plan.
  • Branching is an operation available on the Personal plan and higher. On the Free plan, operations configured in the flow bot will result in an error.
  • Paid plans, such as the Personal plan, include a two-week free trial. During the free trial, you can use apps and features (operations) that are otherwise subject to plan restrictions.
  • Combining multiple keywords in your search can help you retrieve more accurate information.
