Notify Slack when a Notion status changes

Notify Slack when a Notion status changes

Launch this workflow to connect Notion !
■Overview
Do you manage task progress in Notion but find it tedious to notify stakeholders on Slack every time a status changes? Manual notifications can lead to missed updates and delays, which may hinder the smooth progress of your projects. With this workflow, you can automatically notify Slack whenever a status changes in a Notion data source, enabling fast and seamless information sharing.
■Who should use this template
  • Teams managing projects with Notion and Slack that want to streamline progress updates
  • Those who manually notify Slack about task status changes and want to reduce the effort and prevent missed updates
  • Those who want to speed up information sharing within their team and reduce communication delays
■Benefits of using this template
  • Since Notion status changes are automatically posted to Slack, you can reduce the time previously spent on manual notifications.
  • Prevent missed or delayed updates caused by manual communication and share accurate information smoothly with the entire team.
■Workflow steps
  1. First, connect Notion and Slack to Yoom.
  2. Next, select Notion as the trigger and set the action to “When a page in a specific data source is created or updated.”
  3. Then, configure branching in the operation settings to route subsequent actions based on specific conditions.
  4. Next, configure Notion’s “Retrieve a record (search by ID)” action in the operation settings to retrieve information about the page that triggered the workflow.
  5. Finally, configure Slack’s “Send a message to a channel” action in the operation settings to notify the designated channel of the Notion update.
※ “Trigger”: An action that starts the workflow. “Operation”: An action that performs a process within the workflow after the trigger starts.
■Customization options
  • In the Notion trigger settings, specify the database you want to connect.
  • In the Slack notification settings, freely select the channel where you want to send the message.
  • Customize the notification message by embedding information retrieved from Notion, such as the page name and status, as variables in addition to fixed text.
■Notes
  • Connect both Notion and Slack to Yoom.
  • You can choose a trigger interval of 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
  • Note that the shortest available trigger interval varies by plan.
  • Branching is an operation available on the Personal plan and higher. On the Free plan, configured workflow operations using branching will result in an error.
  • Paid plans, including the Personal plan, come with a two-week free trial. During the free trial, you can use apps and features (operations) that are otherwise subject to plan restrictions.
