When a specific issue is created in GitHub, analyze its content with ChatGPT and add a comment

When a specific issue is created in GitHub, analyze its content with ChatGPT and add a comment

Launch this workflow to connect GitHub & ChatGPT !
‍■Overview
Do you find yourself constantly busy reviewing the contents of newly created GitHub Issues and providing initial responses? Checking each Issue individually, summarizing it, and assigning it to the right person can slow down development. With this workflow, whenever a new Issue is created in GitHub, ChatGPT automatically analyzes and summarizes its contents and adds the summary as a comment. By connecting GitHub and ChatGPT, you can reduce the effort required to manage Issues and improve your development team's productivity.

■Recommended for
  • Developers and project managers who struggle to handle a large volume of Issues when managing projects in GitHub
  • Anyone who wants to use ChatGPT to automate GitHub Issue analysis and triage and streamline their work
  • Teams that want to reduce manual tasks such as providing initial responses to Issues and focus on their core development work

■Benefits of using this template
  • ChatGPT automatically analyzes and summarizes Issue contents when an Issue is created in GitHub, reducing the time required for people to review and assess them.
  • Automating initial comments on Issues reduces the risk of missed responses and prevents variations in how assignees respond, helping maintain consistent work quality.

■Flow
  1. First, connect GitHub and ChatGPT to Yoom.
  2. Next, select GitHub as the trigger, set the action to “When a new Issue is created,” and retrieve the relevant Issue information.
  3. Then, configure the branching feature in an operation to route subsequent processes based on information such as the labels of the retrieved Issue.
  4. Next, select ChatGPT in an operation and configure the “Generate text (Advanced settings)” action to analyze and summarize the Issue contents.
  5. Finally, configure GitHub’s “Add a comment to an Issue or Pull Request” action in an operation and post the generated text as a comment.
※ “Trigger”: An action that starts the flow. “Operation”: An action that processes information within the flow after the trigger starts.

■Customization options
  • In the GitHub trigger settings, specify the owner name and repository name of the repository you want to automate.
  • With the branching feature, you can set conditions to route subsequent processes based on information such as the Issue labels and title retrieved by the trigger.
  • In ChatGPT’s text generation action, you can freely customize the prompt to suit your purpose, such as summarization or analysis, and use information such as the Issue title and body as variables.
  • In the action for adding a comment to GitHub, you can freely configure the comment by combining fixed text with variables such as text generated by ChatGPT.

■Notes
  • Connect both GitHub and ChatGPT to Yoom.
  • You can select a trigger interval of 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes. Please note that the shortest available interval varies by plan.
  • To run ChatGPT (OpenAI) actions, you need a paid OpenAI API plan that allows you to make payments when the API is used. For details, see the OpenAI pricing page.
  • OpenAI charges for ChatGPT API usage based on the number of tokens used when the API communicates. Please note that an error will occur if you are unable to make payments when using the API.
  • Branching is an operation available on the Personal plan and above. On the Free plan, configured flow bot operations that use branching will result in an error.
  • Paid plans such as the Personal plan include a two-week free trial. During the free trial, you can use apps and features (operations) that are subject to plan restrictions. For details, see the pricing plans page.
