■Overview
Are task management in Asana and communication in Slack disconnected, making progress updates and confirmations time-consuming? When multiple projects are in progress, manually sharing information can easily lead to missed updates and oversights.
This workflow automatically sends a notification to Slack when a specific task is completed in Asana. By seamlessly connecting Slack and Asana and streamlining progress sharing, it helps your team work more efficiently.
■Who This Template Is For
- Project teams that use Asana and Slack regularly and currently share progress updates manually
- Teams that want to automate task completion updates and prevent missed confirmations or communication gaps
- Teams looking to connect Slack and Asana to build a more efficient project management process
■Benefits of Using This Template
- Slack notifications are sent automatically whenever a task is completed in Asana, reducing the time spent reporting progress.
- With manual sharing no longer required, you can prevent human errors such as missed updates and delayed notifications, ensuring that task completion is communicated reliably.
■Workflow
- First, connect Asana and Slack to Yoom.
- Next, select Asana as the trigger and set the action to “When a task in a specific project is completed.”
- Then, configure a branching function in the operation and define the conditions for subsequent actions based on the information retrieved by the trigger.
- Finally, configure Slack’s “Send a message to a channel” action in the operation to send a message to the specified channel when the conditions are met.
※ “Trigger”: The action that starts the workflow. “Operation”: The action that processes information within the workflow after the trigger starts.
■Customization Options
- In the Asana trigger settings, specify the workspace ID and project ID for which you want to receive notifications.
- With the branching function, you can customize the workflow to send subsequent Slack notifications only when specific conditions are met, based on task information retrieved from Asana, such as the assignee or labels.
- For Slack notifications, you can freely choose the channel where messages are sent. You can also include fixed text in the message body as well as insert information retrieved from Asana, such as the task name, as variables.
■Notes
- Connect both Asana and Slack to Yoom.
- You can choose a trigger interval of 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
- Note that the shortest available trigger interval varies by plan.
- Branching is an operation available on the Mini plan and above. On the Free plan, configured workflow operations that use branching will result in an error.
- Paid plans, including the Mini plan, come with a two-week free trial. During the free trial, you can use apps and features (operations) that are otherwise subject to plan restrictions.
