Complete an Asana task when a specific reaction is added in Slack

Complete an Asana task when a specific reaction is added in Slack

Launch this workflow to connect Slack & Asana !
■Overview
After reporting work in Slack, do you find it redundant to manually update the status to “Complete” in task management tools like Asana? This manual process also creates a risk of missed updates.
With this workflow, simply adding a specific reaction to a Slack message automatically marks the corresponding Asana task as complete. Centralize completion reporting and status updates to keep your work moving smoothly.
■Who this template is recommended for
  • Those who use Slack and Asana together and manually update task statuses
  • Team leaders who want to use Slack’s reaction feature to streamline task completion reporting
  • Those who want to simplify their reporting workflow and prevent human errors, such as missed task updates
■Benefits of using this template
  • Automatically complete Asana task updates with a single reaction in Slack, reducing the time spent on manual work
  • Eliminate the need to change statuses manually and help prevent human errors such as missed updates and incorrect operations
■Workflow
  1. First, connect Slack and Asana with Yoom
  2. Next, select Slack as the trigger and set the action to “When a reaction is added to a message”
  3. Then, set the Slack “Get a specific message” action as an operation to retrieve information about the message with the reaction
  4. Next, configure an AI feature operation and create a prompt (instruction) to extract the task name and other details from the retrieved message
  5. Then, set the Asana “Search tasks” action as an operation to find the relevant task based on the extracted information
  6. Finally, set the Asana “Mark a task as complete” action as an operation to complete the task found in the search
※ “Trigger”: An action that starts the workflow. “Operation”: An action that processes data within the workflow after the trigger starts.
■Customization options
  • In the Slack trigger settings, specify the channel ID where you want to launch the workflow and the reaction name to use
  • In the AI feature operation settings, customize the instructions to extract the information you want to use when searching for Asana tasks from the Slack message body
  • In the Asana operation settings, specify the connected workspace ID and set the value extracted by the AI feature as the search keyword
